Kat-Katha - Puppets Arts Trust - Puppetry Expert

Kat-Katha is a puppet theatre company, founded in 1997 by Anurupa Roy with help from fellow artists and friends. Today it is a trust that works in different main areas.

Kat-Katha - Puppets Arts Trust conducts training / workshops and introduces puppet theatre and creative thinking to young people. It also aims to build communication between puppeteers within India and the international puppetry community.

Kat-Katha offers workshops for children, teachers, professional puppeteers as well as hobby classes and workshops leading to performances. For children they offer summer and school vacation workshops every year. Children are taught how to create their own puppets, their own stories and scripts and to use puppets to create a show. Sometimes workshops also culminate in shows.

For teachers they create tailor made teacher training courses which facilitate classroom teaching. These include storytelling with puppets training for nursery teachers and also using puppets to teach science and arts in the junior and middle schools. For adults they offer regular in-house puppet training courses. They teach small groups how to create puppets using specific techniques, improve manipulation through specific movement exercises and lecture demonstrations.
